Inventory Specialist

Inventory Specialists are responsible for the accurate intake, tracking, and maintenance of cannabis inventory in full compliance with METRC and DCC regulations. This role is central to the operational integrity of our stores, ensuring product availability, audit readiness, and regulatory compliance. When business needs require, Inventory Specialists flex to the sales floor and support customer-facing functions alongside the Budtender team.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory & Compliance

  • Receive and process incoming inventory transfers in compliance with METRC and DCC regulations, ensuring all manifest discrepancies are documented and resolved.
  • Conduct intake verification of cannabis and non-cannabis products, including weight checks, label accuracy, and chain-of-custody documentation.
  • Perform scheduled cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory against METRC and POS system records.
  • Maintain inventory health by identifying and reporting discrepancies, expired or near-expiry product, and damaged goods per company SOP.
  • Organize and maintain back-of-house storage areas to ensure product is properly labeled, stored, and accessible.
  • Support the execution of aged and expiring product protocols in alignment with the company’s discount threshold guidelines.
  • Assist with METRC adjustments, transfers, and manifest reconciliation under the direction of the Store Leader or Compliance team.

Customer Engagement

  • Greet and assist customers, ensuring a personalized and engaging shopping experience.
  • Educate customers on cannabis products, effects, and consumption methods.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of offerings, promotions, and industry trends.
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with state regulations.

General

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work environment at all times.
  • Follow all company policies, SOPs, and state and local compliance requirements.
  • Communicate proactively with Store Leadership regarding inventory concerns, discrepancies, or compliance risks.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in cannabis retail, inventory management, warehouse operations, or a related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with METRC or similar track-and-trace systems is a plus.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively across competing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-first attitude.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
  • Must be 21+ and meet all state regulatory requirements for cannabis employment.
